Another Festival Bites the Dust
Just as ROSfest starts comes news that England's Fused Festival has been cancelled. This unfortunate turn of events comes on the heels of other cancelled or postponed festivals such as the Electric Gardens Festival, the High Voltage Festival, the Ohio Prog Festival, and the Prog Resiste Festival. And of course, this year's NEARfest is its last. Here is the press release:
It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of Fused Festival for 2012.
We started the festival last year knowing that it would take several years for the event to become established. However, against expectation, ticket sales for this year's festival are considerably down on last year's and we simply cannot afford to continue with the event. As things are, we will sustain a very considerable loss; continuing would be utterly disastrous.
Full refunds for tickets purchased will be made over the next few weeks; please bear with us as we have to sort out all the implications of cancelling.
But all is not lost, a new festival, FarFest, was is set for Octoberand seems to be selling out, and the Y-Prog Festival has been announced for March 2013 and its roster of acts has already secured Manning, The Tangent, Crimson Sky, and IO Earth. Sounds good to me.
