Phil Collins: Take a Look at Him Now

Phil Collins will be releasing remastered versions of his back catalogue, with an additional CD of rare and previously unreleased material. The remastered albums will also be released on 180gram heavy weight vinyl, but they will not feature the additional demos and live versions.

The first two albums to get the full remastered treatment are Phil's first and fifth solo albums, 1981's Face Value and 1993's Both Sides. Both will be released November 6, 2015. There will also bea Limited Edition CD / Vinyl Box Set, that will include both Face Value & Both Sides on CD or Vinyl and space for the remaining studio albums to complete your collection.

But what is really clever and especially brave of Phil is that the covers have been updated. He famously always had his face in close-up (at least up until Dance Into Light), and it showed him maturing with his music. with his new covers, portraying him as he is now, the Box Set reveals that it is aptly titled: Take a Look at Me Now.

Steven Wilson and Steve Hackett Announce Box Set

Steve Hackett's first 6 albums, those originally released on the famous Charisma label have now been remixed by Steven Wilson with the help of Mark Powell, and are set to be released as 14 CD box set.

Universal are releasing Premonitions: The Charisma Years 1975 - 1983. It will include Steve's first six albums, four of which have been redone in surround sound by Steven Wilson. It will also include live recordings, such as the whole Oxford show over two CDs, 1981 Reading show, 1979 Drury Lane show, as well as a 1983 BBC session.

Since the multi tracks for two of the early Steve Hackett records could not be located, Steven Wilson created a surround sound up-mix, which he says is very immersive and worthwhile.

Premonitions is set to be released at the end of 2015 or beginning 2016. Amazon UK announces it for October 16, while Steven Wilson said that it might be in January 2016.

Word has not come out yet about a possible release as single albums outside of the box set.

Roger Waters' Amused to Death Gets 5.1 Treatment

Roger Waters' unblinking look at this entertainment-obsessed society, Amused to Death, is being re-released as a remixed and remastered CD, 2xLP, as well as a BluRay with 5.1 Surround sound.

As relevant today as it was when it first came out in 1992, if not more so, Amused to Death addresses issues that have only grown in complexity and urgency over the past two decades.

As Waters says: "In 2015, television is just one option in an endless array of distractions available to us anytime, anywhere, courtesy of our laptops, tablets and smartphones. With eyes glued to our screens, the dilemmas and injustices of the real world can easily recede from view."

Watch Roger Waters speak about the new version:

The art has been updated for 2015 by Sean Evans, the creative director of Waters’ 2010-2013 The Wall Live tour and movie.

2014: The Year of Amon Düül II

On April 29, Cleopatra Records will roll out a series of limited edition deluxe vinyl re-issues of 5 landmark albums by one of the most influential experimental rock bands of all time, iconic German Krautrock legends Amon Düül II! Each album has been meticulously put together with digitally remastered audio made specifically for these re-issues, 180 gram colored vinyl packaged in glue-on heavyweight chip board jackets, and sequentially numbered. The first 2 re-issues to appear will be the spectacular 1969 debut album Phallus Dei and the hugely influential 1972 classic Wolf City. The following month will see the release of the 1971 double LP Dance of the Lemmings, followed in June by 2 more - 1973’s Vive La Trance and an extra special lenticular jacket printing of the group’s masterpiece, 1970’s double LP Yeti, which will be limited to just 500 copies.

As thrilling as these extraordinary releases are, what’s more exciting is the long awaited return of this iconic German outfit after a nearly 20-year absence from the music world with a new album, Düülirium! This stunning new album features 3 of the group’s founding members - guitarist John Weinzierl, guitarist/violinist Chris Karrer, and vocalist Renate Knaup - and will be simultaneously released on both CD and vinyl June 10.

Genesis Albums to Be Released on Blu-Ray

In 2007 and 2008, all Genesis albums were released as CD/DVD sets. The CDs contained remastered songs and the DVDs had the whole album in 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS Surround Sound, plus added visual bonuses (interviews, etc.).
Some of the titles are becoming unavailable, and others were only available with the box sets. But this year Universal will rerelease all Genesis albums on the Pure Audio Blu-ray format. Each Blu-ray will contain the music only, there are no visual extras.

Pure Audio Blu-ray is a normal Blu-ray, so it can be played on all Blu-ray players. Nevertheless, it can be played as a CD, which means you do not have to use your television to enjoy the disc or browse through menus before you can start the music.

The first release will be Selling England by the Pound.
