Bad Elephant Music is proud to announce the latest addition to their lineup: Anglo-Dutch neo-progressive outfit Nine Stones Close.
Conceived in 2008 as a solo project by guitarist Adrian Jones, Nine Stones Close quickly grew into a fully-fledged band with their acclaimed second album Traces, listed among Prog Magazine’s top 20 albums of 2011. Returning with a refreshed lineup after a four-year hiatus following their last album, 2012’s One Eye on the Sunrise, the band’s fourth studio album, Leaves, puts a new twist on an already unique and distinctive sound: rich, elegant soundscapes with a subtle psychedelic edge.
Says Jones himself:
“Nine Stones Close are delighted to be joining such a vibrant and forward thinking label who are passionate about their music, their artists, and working together to deliver great music to as many people as possible. We are really excited about working together with BEM on the release of our forthcoming album!”
David Elliott of BEM adds:
“Nine Stones Close are a band that really do resist pigeonholing. I’ve been following them since the beginning and I’m excited to see this latest development in their musical evolution, and overjoyed to have them joining the Bad Elephant family.”
Leaves is scheduled for release in late spring, 2016. In the meantime a digital single, Complicated is available for purchase via Bandcamp . The single comes with a ‘B side’, an acoustic version of the title track from One Eye on the Sunrise, featuring new vocalist Aio O’Shaughnessy.
Christiaan Bruin (Sky Architect, Chris, Nine Stones Close) announces a musical series The Black Codex, starting January the 5th 2014.
Having just released his latest album Chris - Days Of Summer Gone and the new Sky Architect album, Christiaan Bruin is back with a brand new ambitious project: a 1-year musical series: The Black Codex. Its concept is a unique one: during the course of a whole year, subscribers receive by email, a newly composed and recorded piece of music every week, together with illustrated lyrics, drawings, and many other bonus features. These weekly episodes will culminate in one epic storyline, with many characters, intrigues, adventures and much more.
"The Black Codex can be compared to a TV-series with weekly episodes, but in this case the story is told through music, lyrics and illustrations. Each week there will be lots of surprises, but also an element of familiarity and continuity. Musically, there's lots of freedom and room for spontaneity.
There's certainly a very adventurous journey ahead, as this has never been attempted before in a similar way, and this is my most ambitious project to date. It's like a concept album-deluxe." - Christiaan
Christiaan Bruin is a young dutch composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Since 2009 he has released five albums with his solo-project Chris.
He is also a founding member of the progressive rock band Sky Architect, which has recorded three albums since 2010. Furthermore he is a member of the avant-garde metal band Adeia, the progressive rock band Nine Stones Close and the cinematic pop orchestra Mayra Orchestra. Watch the trailer:
