Steven Wilson and Steve Hackett Announce Box Set
Steve Hackett's first 6 albums, those originally released on the famous Charisma label have now been remixed by Steven Wilson with the help of Mark Powell, and are set to be released as 14 CD box set.
Universal are releasing Premonitions: The Charisma Years 1975 - 1983. It will include Steve's first six albums, four of which have been redone in surround sound by Steven Wilson. It will also include live recordings, such as the whole Oxford show over two CDs, 1981 Reading show, 1979 Drury Lane show, as well as a 1983 BBC session.
Since the multi tracks for two of the early Steve Hackett records could not be located, Steven Wilson created a surround sound up-mix, which he says is very immersive and worthwhile.
Premonitions is set to be released at the end of 2015 or beginning 2016. Amazon UK announces it for October 16, while Steven Wilson said that it might be in January 2016.
Word has not come out yet about a possible release as single albums outside of the box set.

Pre-Orders for the New Edison's Children Have Begun
With the anticipation of a new Marillion album on the horizon, Pete Trewavas is expected to be very busy during this next year. One of his other bands, Edison's Children, has decided to hold back for just a short while on their next concept album. They have, however, decided to release what they call a "bridge album", entitled Somewhere Between Here and Now...
This is a non-conceptual album featuring several songs that have been kicking around the Edison's Children laboratory for a few years but would never see the light of day otherwise. Not that they are bad songs; they simply don't fit the "concept albums" themes of the past or the future. They are however, quite exciting pieces of music in their own right, as fans who attended Montreal's Marillion Weekend 2015 found out during a surprise opening act.
Somewhere Between Here and Now... track list (not in song order):
Growing Down in Brooklyn
Someone Took My Heart Away
Winter Solstice (Instrumental)
Stranger in a Foreign Land
Ever Be Friends
The Darkness (Instrumental)
Sinner's Minus (Instrumental)
Where Were You (14:10) (mixed by Jakko Jakszyk)
Light Years (mixed by Jakko Jakszyk)
The Seventh Sign (mixed by Jakko Jakszyk)
The Longing (Orchestral version)
A Million Miles Away (Live during Marillion Wolves Weekend 2013)

District 97 Prepares top Release New Album
Chicago-based quintet District 97 is getting ready to unveil their third full-length studio recording, titled In Vaults, on June 23rd on Laser's Edge label.
With an energetic and assorted blend of alternative/pop and progressive rock, District 97 was formed in the Fall of 2006 by drummer Jonathan Schang, keyboardist Rob Clearfield, bassist Patrick Mulcahy and guitarist Sam Krahn, the latter eventually replaced by Jim Tashjian on guitar. The foursome honed a no-holds barred style of Liquid Tension Experiment-inspired instrumental rock before deciding the right vocalist was needed to complement their sound; enter 2007 American Idol Top 10 Female Finalist, Leslie Hunt. With a look, sound and stage presence comparable to a young Ann Wilson, Leslie’s dynamic performances pushed the band into a new direction that forged a unique marriage between accessible, catchy vocal melodies and an adventurous instrumental prowess.
Capturing the attention of Laser’s Edge, the label signed District 97 for the 2010 release of their debut album, Hybrid Child, followed in 2012 by their follow-up, Trouble with Machines, both albums balancing meticulous attention to detail and studio-craft with the visceral power of a rock band that is firing on all cylinders. Heavy bouts of live performances surrounding both records included a number of high profile festivals, opening support slots for prog icons Kansas, and even European and North American tours with John Wetton (King Crimson/Asia/UK). These spectacular shows saw District 97 open with their own material, and then join forces with Wetton for a full set of legendary King Crimson tracks, as memorialized on their joint 2014 live album, One More Red Night.
In Vaults track listing:
1. Snow Country
2. Death by a Thousand Cuts
3. Handlebars
4. A Lottery
5. All’s Well That Ends Well
6. Takeover
7. On Paper
8. Learn from Danny
9. Blinding Vision

Tim Bowness Returns with the Powerful New Release
A year on from the acclaimed Abandoned Dancehall Dreams, Tim Bowness returns with the powerful and eclectic Stupid Things That Mean The World, his third solo album. Scheduled for release in July, the album was recorded between October 2014 and April 2015 at various studios, including NAM.
Produced by Bowness and mixed by The Pineapple Thief's Bruce Soord (who also adds some choice guitar parts), the album features a core of Bowness along with members of the No-Man live band (Stephen Bennett, Michael Bearpark, Andrew Booker) and Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), augmented by contributions from Peter Hammill, Phil Manzanera, Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson), Anna Phoebe, David Rhodes (Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Scott Walker), and Rhys Marsh. As on Abandoned Dancehall Dreams, Classical composer Andrew Keeling, best known for his work with The Hilliard Ensemble, Evelyn Glennie and Robert Fripp, provides striking string arrangements. The album was mastered by The Pineapple Thief's Steve Kitch.
The beautiful artwork for the album was once again done by I Monster's Jarrod Gosling, and you can see that below. The album will be available as Double CD Media book featuring a companion disc of alternate mixes and demos (including an unreleased No-Man demo from 1994), as well as a gatefold vinyl LP with CD & digital download.
