Roger Waters' Amused to Death Gets 5.1 Treatment

Roger Waters' unblinking look at this entertainment-obsessed society, Amused to Death, is being re-released as a remixed and remastered CD, 2xLP, as well as a BluRay with 5.1 Surround sound.

As relevant today as it was when it first came out in 1992, if not more so, Amused to Death addresses issues that have only grown in complexity and urgency over the past two decades.

As Waters says: "In 2015, television is just one option in an endless array of distractions available to us anytime, anywhere, courtesy of our laptops, tablets and smartphones. With eyes glued to our screens, the dilemmas and injustices of the real world can easily recede from view."

Watch Roger Waters speak about the new version:

The art has been updated for 2015 by Sean Evans, the creative director of Waters’ 2010-2013 The Wall Live tour and movie.

A Passion Play Remixed by Steven Wilson Pre-Orders

In his continuing quest to remix the classic albums of progdom, Steven Wilson remixed (stereo and 5.1) Jethro Tull's A Passion Play, following his own remix of their Thick as a Brick, as well as Yes, King Crimson, and Emerson Lake and Palmer remixes of early albums. When did he find the time, given his busy schedule? Well, the man is a workaholic, and his passion for the music shows in these carefully remixed albums.

A Passion Play (An Extended Performance) features new Steven Wilson mixes of the album, alongside Steven Wilson mixes of the infamous Chateau Disaster recordings that preceded it. Packaged with an 80 page book detailing the album, the band’s 1973 tour and the Chateau recordings, A Passion Play will be a a glorious way to celebrate a one of a kind release.

3. 21st Century Painted Lady
4. 21st Century Painted Lady (Instrumental)

Mixed by Karl Groom at Thin Ice, pre-orders can be made as of now from their website www.galahadonline.com.

Galahad will be spending a little more time at Thin Ice Studios remixing Empires Never Last. They have actually completely run out of physical copies of the original album and have decided that instead of merely going for a standard re-pressing, they will spruce up the album, add a few exclusive extra tracks and re-issue the album in a digipack format later in 2014.

In addition, various demos of songs which didn’t make the final cut of ‘Empires’ will be made available to download from their website at the same time.

If you wish to see the band live in 2014, and you know you should, Galahad have been asked play a show for GARF (Gothenburg Artrock Society) on Saturday 1 March at the Musikens Hus, Djurgardsatan 13, Gothenburg. They will also be opening the Celebr8.3 Festival at the Islington Assembly Halls on Sunday 1 June. The band will also be playing at the Christchurch Music Festival on Saturday 5th July. Galahad are very proud to be associated with this event as all monies raised will go to benefit various local charities. More information to follow regarding stage times etc.
