Heliopolis was conceived in the summer of 2012 by bassist Kerry Chicoine following his departure from his previous band Mars Hollow. Joined by former Mars Hollow drummer Jerry Beller and Gabble Ratchet keyboardist/vocalist Matt Brown, the three musicians set out with the intent of forming an Emerson, Lake and Palmer style trio. Those plans were quickly derailed after guitarist Michael Matier (formerly of Ten Jinn) and vocalist Scott Jones (formerly of Rocket Scientists) signed on, and Heliopolis was officially born.
They soon achieved widespread critical acclaim with the release of their first album, City of the Sun. Quickly establishing a powerfully progressive style, their sound was an instant classic, as was made clearer than ever in a coruscating performance at RoSFest 2015 – a performance which is immortalised in a new live album, Epic at the Majestic: Heliopolis Live at RoSFest.
Bassist Kerry Chicoine had this to say:
"All of us are excited to be partnering with Bad Elephant Music for the release of our live album. For a relatively new label with an incredibly diverse and unquestionably talented roster, BEM have forged their own unique path and they're now at the forefront of the progressive rock music scene. We're hoping this is the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership."
Epic at the Majestic: Heliopolis Live at RoSFest is slated for a June 2016 release. Mixed by Michael Matier and mastered by Mike Bozzi at Bernie Grundman Mastering (Los Angeles), the album is intended to act as a calling card indicating the band’s formidable performance skills and ability to execute complex material in front of a live audience with passion, skill, enthusiasm and humour.
The band are spending 2016 writing the follow-up to City of the Sun with the intent of a mid-2017 release date.
The Enid have announced the release of new album Dust, the third and final chapter of their trilogy started in 2010 with Journey’s End and followed by Invicta in 2012. Dust, The Enid’s 14th studio record, is out on 1st April on the band’s Operation Seraphim label, closely following 2015’s The Bridge. Dust represents The Enid at their very best, as they distance themselves from all preconceptions associated with the early instrumental phase of their career.
Full Tracklist: 1. Born in the Fire 2. Someone Shall Rise 3. Monsters 4. 1000 Stars 5. When the World is Full 6. Trophy 7. Heavy Hearts The current Dust Tour is an eccentric, ambitious audio-visual production directed by TV illusionist Simon Drake (Secret Cabaret), who previously worked with Kate Bush on her Tour of Life. The show is an acknowledgement to the band’s fan club The Enidi; members will receive 10% discount on tickets and access to an exclusive intimate after-show reception on the last date of the tour, at London Cadogan Hall on 2nd April. Says The Enid founder Robert John Godfrey:
“Dust is the last in the Journey’s End trilogy, telling the story of the band’s generational voyage from the past into the . Needless to say this has been very much an evolutionary tale with many surprises along the way. This is by far the best of these albums.”

As he did a couple of years ago with Journey to the Center of the Earth, Rick Wakeman has decided to re-record his popular Myths & Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. And as he did with Journey, there will be 5 new songs added to the other well-known songs.
All the music will be recorded with a full symphonic orchestra, band, choir, and vocalists.
This time around, Rick is partnering with PledgeMusic to allow pre-orders of the album, as well as other surprises.
Speaking about the project, Wakeman had this to say:
"It has always been in my mind to re-record and once again perform an extended version of King Arthur, as it has only ever been performed three times in the UK. I am delighted to now have the opportunity to do this and especially so with the help of the fans and my campaign on PledgeMusic… and if all goes well, maybe one day put it back on ice! In the meantime, I’m looking forward to the première performance at the O2 in London on June 19th as part of the Stone Free Festival."
Pledges start at £10 for a Digital Download of the album, up to £5,000 pounds for an Executive Producer credit, with everything imaginable in between the two. For those outside the UK, amounts automatically change to your own currency exchange.
As of this writing (February 12th) there are 87 days left to pledge, and only 27% of the goal has been reached.
Haken are pleased to announce the release of Affinity, their fourth full-length studio album and the follow-up to their acclaimed 2013 album The Mountain, on April 29th, 2016. Head over to the band's website to discover a teaser for the album: http://hakenmusic.com/haken-album-four-press-release
Since releasing their highly praised EP Restoration in 2014, Haken have been making waves on the live circuit, including appearances at high-profile festivals such as Hellfest, Ramblin' Man Fair, Be Prog! My Friend and Cruise to the Edge as well as supporting the likes of Between The Buried & Me and The Neal Morse Band, a double headline UK tour with Leprous, and their first North American headline tour.
Like much of Haken's previous music, Affinity is full of surprises and The Architect, the album's centrepiece, is no exception. Blasting through a dizzying array of instrumental insanity coupled with down-tempo atmospheric tenuity, Haken welcomes friend and Leprous frontman Einar Solberg mid-song for a spot of guest vocals! Just one of many twists and turns throughout this 60-minute musical lobotomy, Haken's Affinity will open up a new dimension in this UK sextet's trajectory. Affinity will arrive as a Limited Edition Digipak (incl. bonus disc with instrumentals), 180g Gatefold 2 LP Edition (incl. album on CD), Standard CD Jewel Case, Digital Download and Deluxe Digital Download (incl. instrumental version of the album as bonus).
